SHAK is changing focus once more to concentrate our efforts on those dogs that need our help the most."Real Rescue" is an extension of our Retirement Scheme which provides sanctuary for those lost souls that have been so badly abused and neglected that the outside world is a traumatic place for them.
Thanks to your fantastic support last year, SHAK has continued to grow beyond our wildest expectations. We have been able to re-home a great number of dogs and had our best year yet. As the charity has grown, we have become a little bit more specialised in the field in which we work. We now only take dogs that are facing being put to sleep in shelters, due to no fault of there own, and seeing these dogs respond to love and care, has made the last 12 months so rewarding.
However, we have now possibly become victims of our success, and we are constantly asked to help with dogs in desperate situations throughout the country. Having been so good to us in the past, and making it possible to do the work we have done so far, we are once again turning to you for help.
As part of our work taking dogs on death row in pounds, we often come across some beautiful dogs that, through no fault of their own, cannot be re-homed. These special souls have been severely mistreat or suffer from serious health issues, however it is our belief that these wonderful dogs still deserve a chance of living a life without suffering.
We have come up with two schemes to give these dogs a second chance of a loving life, the details of which are stated below:
This is a scheme that is mainly aimed for dogs with severe behavioural problems.
